Frequently Asked Questions
-
How do I know if I need therapy? If you are experiencing persistent relationship issues or feelings of sadness, anxiety, stress, grief, or challenges with addiction, therapy can provide valuable support and strategies for coping. Please schedule a 15 minute consultation call to discuss your situation and see how I can help.
-
What does therapy look like with me?1) Free 15-min phone call consultation: I encourage all future clients to initially schedule a call. In this call you will provide me with a brief summary of what you are struggling with, ask any questions you have regarding what therapy looks like or the way I approach therapy and ensure that we are a good fit. 2) First Appointment (Intake Session): In our first appointment, which is our intake session, I will ask more detailed questions about various aspects of your life and the presenting problem. We will also discuss what goals you would like to work towards and collaboratively decide what structure of therapy may work best for you. 3) Follow up appointments: We will be working towards meeting your goals and re-evaluate every few weeks in order to ensure that you feel like the ongoing support is working for you. Of course there will be times where you want to address something that is not related to your goals and that is okay. I will meet you where you are at and address whatever concerns you want to talk about in your session. 4) Termination session/Re-engagement in Therapy: When we decide that our therapeutic relationship is coming to an end we will have a final session which marks the conclusion of your therapy. If at any point in the future, you would like to re-engage in therapy, you can always reach out to me.
-
How long does therapy last? The duration of therapy varies depending on individual needs and goals. Some people may benefit from short-term therapy, while others may find long-term support more helpful. We will work together to determine the best approach for you. Each therapy session typically lasts between 53-60 minutes, but this can be adjusted based on your individual needs and preferences.
-
What types of therapy do you offer?I offer a range of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Gottman Method and strengths based therapy, among others. My goal is to use the most effective method to meet your specific needs.
-
Can I receive therapy online?Yes, I currently only offer teletherapy sessions. Online therapy provides the same level of support and confidentiality as in-person sessions.
-
Is therapy confidential?Yes, therapy is confidential. Information you share with your therapist will not be disclosed to anyone without your written consent. However there a few situations where therapists may need to break that confidentiality such as: 1) If a therapist has a reason to believe that you are a danger to yourself or others. 2) If a therapist has a reason to believe that there is suspected abuse/neglect of children and elders.
-
Do you accept insurance?I accept the following insurance: Aetna, Cigna and BCBS. Please contact me to verify your coverage and discuss payment options. The private pay rates are $150 for couples therapy and $125 for individual therapy. I also offer sliding scale rates based on your financial situation. This ensures that therapy is accessible for everyone, regardless of their income.
-
What is your cancellation policy?I understand that life happens. Please notify me at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment to avoid a cancellation fee.
-
What if I have an emergency? If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. For non-emergency but urgent situations, you can contact me for support and guidance.
